At the time, I had never heard the term before. Like many people, I assumed there would be a straightforward explanation and an equally straightforward solution. Instead, I found myself navigating a world of conflicting advice. One article told me to eliminate entire food groups. Another recommended a long list of supplements. Everyone seemed to have an answer, yet I still didn’t feel better. What I didn’t realize then was that the leaky gut journey would teach me lessons far beyond digestion. It would completely change how I think about health and well-being.
The Body Whispers Before It Screams
For years, I ignored the signs. Like many professionals living in the Gulf, I had become used to pushing through exhaustion. Long workdays, travel, stress, poor sleep, and irregular eating habits became normal. When you’re busy, it’s easy to explain everything away. You’re tired because you’re working hard. You’re bloated because you’ve eaten something unhealthy. You’re anxious because life is stressful. Before my diagnosis, I was struggling with fatigue, digestive issues, poor focus, and low energy. I found myself canceling meetings because I simply didn’t have the mental clarity to show up as myself. At the time, I saw these as separate problems. Looking back, they were all connected.
The biggest lesson was simple: our bodies usually tell us when something is wrong. The challenge is learning to listen before those whispers become something louder.

There Is No Magic Solution and small changes matter!
One of the biggest misconceptions I had about health was believing there would be one answer.One supplement, one treatment, one quick fix. That was far more valuable than any number on a scale or any health metric.
Health Is Not Something We Can Postpone
My understanding of wellness deepened even further when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Becoming her caregiver changed my perspective completely. Watching someone you love struggle with everyday tasks gives you a different understanding of what health really means. It’s about maintaining your independence, your quality of life, and your ability to participate in the moments that matter most.That experience reinforced something I had already begun to learn through my own health journey: The best time to invest in your health is before you need to.
